Why smart people do stupid things//

Image via

There are a lot of smart people “serving” as elected officials in our government, yet most of the decisions made by them are wrong.  This leads me to wonder, are they really not smart? I doubt that is the case.  If you take as a given that these people are smart then it follows that the decisions they make cannot be stupid. So when it appears that they are, what is the reason for it?

I submit that they appear to us to be stupid because we do not understand the true goals they are trying to achieve. When you understand the true goals, then you see that the decisions being made are very smart. We think they are trying to improve the country while what they are really trying to do is serve their own personal interests. When you realize that serving their own personal interests are the actual goals, then you see that they are very effective at achieving them. They aren’t stupid at all, just very deceitful.

They have become very effective at crafting policies that look one way, in order to play to our sympathies, while the actual result achieves the opposite of our desires but directly in line with theirs. Continue reading

We aren’t managing our business, or our politicians//

Image via

As we mentioned on our “About the Bloggers” page, we frequently sit around and discuss politics, and today was no different, as El Commodore and I found ourselves, along with my Mom and husband, hanging out on the back patio in this gorgeous end-of-summer weather, as the carpet was drying from cleaning. (When he gets back from the movies, I’ll find out exactly where he got it:) El commodore brought up in discussion the info below and let me say, why was I not surprised? Because we want what we post on here to be factual and we pride ourselves on not just blowing around in the wind, with the rest of the “sheeple” as El Commodore calls them, I went searching to validate the info below that is circulating around.

However, on a general note, when you get snake-y people in office, you get snake-y laws benefitting only themselves (this is not news), while as per usual, spending our money. As we’ve mentioned before on this blog, politicians work for us, they are paid with our money (taxes) and they need to remember that – but I’ll rephrase today, “we need to remind them, all the time it seems.” I follow Francis Marion Nation on facebook (and you should too). Those guys are brilliant! I agree with pretty much everything they say and as they are posting up the stupid socialist things that our government is doing, they ususally close their posts by saying that we have allowed it, or we weren’t paying attention, or we need to pay attention and do something about it – and they are correct! While yes, we the american people are the “boss” of every politician that works for us, I hate to say it but we are kind of like the boss that never goes into the office, or store, to see what the employees are up to, Continue reading

What is a Demagogue?//

Image via

I was doing a little research for an article and happened to look at the definition for the word Demagogue.  I had always assumed it was just a person that did things a certain way or held certain beliefs, but after reading its true meaning, I find it is actually a pretty negative characteristic. Webster defines Demagogue as “a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power” and “A political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.”

I don’t like to call names, but words and titles are descriptive. This one appears to apply to Obama in that he tries to steer clear of rational argument and rely more on appealing to prejudices. Continue reading

In the Spirit of Thanksgiving//

Random people on the streets of New York City share a variety of grateful responses to one simple question: What are you thankful for?

This is the coolest video ever! It’s so touching and I love hearing what other people are Thankful for. It’s posted on lds.org, the official website for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as well as on the Mormon Messages YouTube Channel.

I love this time of year and reflecting on all that I have to be grateful for. I am so blessed and happy and thought I would share just a few of the things that I’m grateful for, otherwise I’d be here all day:

my family, my Savior Jesus Christ, my amazing husband, our super cute kids that make me smile, that my husband has a great job and one that he loves, that I have amazing parents and siblings and that we are all best friends, my education, my freedoms from being an American, the people who fight for my freedoms, my health, answers to my prayers, that my husband thinks that I am the only woman he knows capable of rational thought process, so I guess that means I’m not crazy-moody lol…, that it’s like the Food Network in my Mom’s kitchen every time I come to visit my parents 🙂 We all love to cook and my Mom and my sister are amazing at it, actually my brothers and my Dad are too! We each took a turn cooking for the family this week since we’ve been home and it’s been really fun. . . and I could go on and on…….

I hope you all have a very wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving! Post up your Thanksgiving comments below! Thanks for reading!

Grievances Against the Government…What are yours?

Following a statement declaring our rights to govern ourselves and stating where those rights come from, the Declaration of Independence enumerates a long list of grievances which the people had against their government in England.  I think that it is time that we write another list of grievances which we, the people, have against our current government.

I have begun the list here with a few of my items.  I know that this is but a small fraction.  If you have items feel free to add them by responding in the comments.  Perhaps we will then compile them in the form of a petition to our government and send it around for signatures.  Add your items to the list!!

Grievances which the people of United States have against their Government:

  1. It has extorted personal property in order to give it to others through taxation for the intent of redistributing wealth.
  2. It has perpetrated the largest Ponzi scheme in history in the name of Social Security by extorting funds from the population claiming these would be held for retirement all the while absconding these funds to squander on political pork projects to enhance its own power while expecting future generations to cover the void.
  3. Members of all branches have violated their oath to uphold and defend the constitution by enacting and signing laws that are not constitutional.
  4. The executive branch has appointed officers without the consent and approval of the Senate.
  5. The executive branch has initiated legislation, an action not enumerated to the executive branch.
  6. It has established bureaucracies with authority beyond any single branch of government,  ie. the separation of powers enumerated in the constitution has been ignored and a single bureaucracy has been empowered to make rules, enforce rules and levy punishments without due process.  Numerous bureaucracies have been established with this power.
  7. It has usurped the rights of states by subverting the interstate commerce clause. {This is a biggie folks…the government has gotten away with so much  nonsense just by purporting that it falls under this clause}.
  8. It has usurped the rights of states by assuming upon itself powers not enumerated in the constitution which are therefore “reserved to the states and to the people”.
  9. The Legislative Branch has allowed the Executive branch to usurp powers from it.
  10. The Judicial Branch has usurped Legislative powers.
  11. It has allowed the establishment of a central bank, not authorized by the constitution.
  12. It has violated the constitution by subverting personal property rights through enacting environmental laws which prohibit the free use of ones own property.

Famous blogger, popular writer and all around irritation to liberals… apparently…

spying

Don’t just peer in at the conservatives, open the door, grab a chair and find out what you’re missing!

I’ll have more political insights on Monday, but for now…. I have just one question…

When liberal haters of all things conservative and truth-based take their time reading my blog, and writing nonsense in the comments section, (half of which I delete with out reading), and then hop over to their own blog and write an entire post about me and my post, and my views, and my stories, does that make me famous in the blogosphere?

Sure seems like it… they say there’s no such thing as bad press!

I can certainly tell you that I have better things to do then stalk around crazy liberal blogs where the blogger writes things totally contrary to what I believe in. Who has time for that? Besides, I have no interest in what liberal bloggers have to say.  But they seem to take quite an interest in us conservatives. Is it kind of like them spying on the opposing team’s strategy session before a big game? But usually all they can come up with is “journalista is a bad writer” (like I care what you think…) and “her post infuriated me (lol… maybe you should look at the facts and stop getting so “infuriated”) I don’t really get it, but they continue to cyber-stalk us and our friends, they get infuriated by our posts which I think is totally hilarious, and they leave ridiculous comments, and try to derail the post topic discussion; and then go bad-mouth us on their own blog or their liberal friends’ blogs, and waste even more of their time talking about us over there (sorry, totally a run-on sentence….is that “bad writing?”).

If you’ll notice, liberal-haters-of-conservative-truth can never intelligently argue the real issues, the only thing they can do is launch wanna-be personal attacks and say how insane we are. They always seem never to “get” what exactly we are really posting about, and instead extrapolate all sorts of other ideas for what they think or want the post to be about. Their arguments aren’t based in reality or on facts, it’s all emotional and completely void of logical reasoning and intelligent political theory. Read all you want, comment all you want, just know that we totally know your game.

I ask my liberal readers…where do your liberal values come from? What are they based on?

For me,  my conservative values and beliefs come from my LDS religion, my views on economics and my conservative political ideology. All three of these complement and support each other. I’m not all over the map, I don’t blow around in the wind, I don’t sit on the fence, I don’t change my mind from policy to social program and back again. I am not confused wondering what to vote on this or that , because I have my belief system solidly in place.

So, thanks for the support from all of my conservative, marriage and family, and political blogger friends! You guys are the best. I know most of us have been under attack and it doesn’t really phase us in the least. And for all of the liberal cyber-stalkers and journalista haters…. I’m not writing for you. I’m writing for people who are actually looking for facts and information, and people who want to learn about conservative views and values. Everyone is welcome here, regardless of your political views, just keep an open mind and you might actually learn something new.

Thanks for reading!

Habla Espanol? No problemo, Obama has created a website just for you…

Stolen from my cousin’s facebook post, check this out:

Quiero compartir esto con todos mis amigos ilegales. If you don’t quite understand, than maybe you shouldn’t check out Obama’s new service website. It’s quite confusing in oh so many ways.

http://www.servir.gov/

Announcing Servir.gov

We are excited to announce the launch of Servir.gov – the Spanish-language companion to Serve.gov. As the nation celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, this new website will make it easier for Spanish-speakers to find or organize volunteer projects in their communities.

Just what we need, a Spanish version of ACORN, and Obama telling them how to volunteer aka organize! I have to say that it’s amazing that I came out of the Liberal California State University system with a degree in Political Science, unscathed! But in all of my polic sci classes I never once had a lecture on community organizing. In fact, I had never even heard of it until Obama came on the scene. Now we have ACORN. My eyes are wide open! Thanks Glenn!
COV_Sign

You’ve got that right! A dot gov website all in Spanish! Are they serious with this? I can not believe that the President is confused about exactly what language we speak in this country…. I’m sure he’s not confused, but he definitely likes to cater to illegal immigrants, give them our money and free health care, while the hardworking and responsible Americans foot the bill for all of it.

I have to admit, I don’t mind them being here. I just think that if they work, they should pay taxes like everyone else. And if they aren’t legal, the government shouldn’t be footing their bill. Living in S. California it’s nice to have someone to clean my house and keep up the yard and help me flip my houses for a really cheap price, and most illegal immigrants that I have  met are really sweet, but I also don’t think that my tax dollars need to go to individuals who broke the law and came to this country illegally. If they’re here illegally, and don’t pay taxes, then they should not benefit from those of us who do put money into the system…I mean, that have our money stolen from us by the government and put into the system.

I believe, as I do about all political things, that the government needs to stick to the writings of the Constitution and that government should be limited. Our governments, state and federal need to stay out of the babysitting-illegal-immigrants business. If health care is going to be provided to non-tax paying individuals, then we need to let capitalism take over. Free health care and other social programs need to come from private charity organizations. They can open and run and fund free clinics and if you don’t free_sign_medhave insurance, and if you’re here illegally, and you get sick, you can seek medical care from a private run and funded facility. I’m not saying we shouldn’t be charitable, I’m just saying that the organizations that my money goes to should be MY choice, NOT Obama’s.Those who believe in giving illegal immigrants heath care and other services, should be able to donate their money to those causes. Everyone should not have money stolen for the causes that line the pockets of the politicians friends and eventually their own pockets as well.

What’s wrong with that? Here is my theory, and that of my family: {Click here to continue reading…}

Does the Government Really want to help people….sure they’ll help you, right out the door they’ll help you…

2509055802_c9e2e85d89

So, the government is trying to convince everyone how much they want to help Americans huh? How helpful was this?

So I had an interesting discussion with my brothers and my Dad today. My Dad has this friend, well actually he’s never met her, but my brother has. She answered the door naked one day when my little bro went over to her apartment to check out an electrical issue. Interesting meeting…… Anyway….

See, she used to be a tenant of my Dad’s in one of his apartment units. Well, she couldn’t make rent, she moved out, found a cheaper place in town, and one day sent my Dad a letter saying that her building had been condemned by the city, and that she had been evicted and had to move by last Sunday. So here’s how the story goes from there: {Click here to continue reading…}

The Hypocritical US Supreme Court
Author unknown

This is a statement that was read over the PA system at the football game at Roane County High School, Kingston, Tennessee, by school Principal, Jody McLeod.

“It has always been the custom at Roane County High School football games, to say a prayer and play the National Anthem, to honor God and Country.”

Due to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, I am told that saying a Prayer is a violation of Federal Case Law. As I understand the law at this time, I can use this public facility to approve of sexual perversion and call it “an alternate lifestyle,” and if someone is offended, that’s OK.

I can use it to condone sexual promiscuity, by dispensing condoms and calling it, “safe sex.” If someone is offended, that’s OK.

I can even use this public facility to present the merits of killing an unborn baby as a “viable means of birth control.” If someone is offended, no problem…

I can designate a school day as “Earth Day” and involve students in activities to worship religiously and praise the goddess “Mother Earth” and call it “ecology.”

I can use literature, videos and presentations in the classroom that depicts people with strong, traditional Christian convictions as “simple minded” and “ignorant” and call it “enlightenment.”

However, if anyone uses this facility to honor GOD and to ask HIM to Bless this event with safety and good sportsmanship, then Federal Case Law is violated.

This appears to be inconsistent at best, and at worst, diabolical. Apparently, we are to be tolerant of everything and anyone, except GOD and HIS Commandments.

Nevertheless, as a school principal, I frequently ask staff and students to abide by rules with which they do not necessarily agree. For me to do otherwise would be inconsistent at best, and at worst, hypocritical

I suffer from that affliction enough unintentionally. I certainly do not need to add an intentional transgression.

For this reason, I shall “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s,” and refrain from praying at this time.

“However, if you feel inspired to honor, praise and thank GOD and ask HIM, in the name of JESUS, to Bless this event, please feel free to do so. As far as I know, that’s not against the law—-yet.”

One by one, the people in the stands bowed their heads, held hands with one another and began to pray.

They prayed in the stands. They prayed in the team huddles. They prayed at the concession stand and they prayed in the Announcer’s Box!

The only place they didn’t pray was in the Supreme Court of the United States of America – the Seat of “Justice” in the “one nation, under GOD.”

Somehow, Kingston, Tennessee remembered what so many have forgotten. We are given the Freedom OF Religion, not the Freedom FROM Religion. Praise GOD that HIS remnant remains!

JESUS said, “If you are ashamed of ME before men, then I will be ashamed of you before MY FATHER.”

Henry Ford’s Thoughts on Reformers and Reactionaries// oh what would he think of the marriage “reformers”?

Henry Ford photo source: businessweek.com

Henry Ford-- photo source: businessweek.com

My brother sent this to me. We talk quite a bit in my family about all of the great industrious men who helped shape this country, their contributions, their work ethics, their thoughts on business, how they became successful despite the depression and hard times etc., and their values.

Here’s a snipped from Henry Ford’s book, My Life and Work.” He talks about reformers, and interestingly, some of it totally applies to the reformers trying to reform marriage … known to us as the sometimes violent activists of the GLBT movement. You know those people, the ones who are working to corrupt this country and turn it into a moral-less and value-less society. I don’t like what the “gays” are trying to do to marriage, families and society in general, and I don’t think Henry Ford would have liked it very much either….Yesterday my husband and I were eating dinner out and we saw a very obviously lesbian couple at a nearby table, in the stroller was the cutest baby…My heart just broke for that child who won’t have a father in his life and how these women are depriving him of his right to a family with a loving mother and a father. Those two lesbian women will NEVER be able to give that child everything it needs and deserves.

Wake up America, these kids have rights that complete supersede any gay or lesbian parenting fantasy…

Have a read, it’s really interesting… I’ve highlighted a few of his points that I think can relate to our so-called marriage reformers. Questions and comments welcome below.

MY LIFE AND WORK
by  Henry Ford

INTRODUCTION (CONT’D)

I am not a reformer. I think there is entirely too much attempt at
reforming in the world and that we pay too much attention to
reformers.
We have two kinds of reformers. Both are nuisances. The man
who calls himself a reformer wants to smash things. He is the sort of
man who would tear up a whole shirt because the collar button did not
fit the buttonhole. It would never occur to him to enlarge the
buttonhole. This sort of reformer never under any circumstances knows
what he is doing. Experience and reform do not go together. A reformer
cannot keep his zeal at white heat in the presence of a fact. He must
discard all facts.

Since 1914 a great many persons have received brand-new intellectual
outfits. Many are beginning to think for the first time. They opened
their eyes and realized that they were in the world. Then, with a
thrill of independence, they realized that they could look at the
world critically. They did so and found it faulty. The intoxication of
assuming the masterful position of a critic of the social
system–which it is every man’s right to assume–is unbalancing at
first. The very young critic is very much unbalanced. He is strongly
in favor of wiping out the old order and starting a new one.
They
actually managed to start a new world in Russia. It is there that the
work of the world makers can best be studied. We learn from Russia
that it is the minority and not the majority who determine destructive
action.
We learn also that while men may decree social laws in
conflict with natural laws, Nature vetoes those laws more ruthlessly
than did the Czars.

Nature has vetoed the whole Soviet Republic. For it sought to deny
nature. It denied above all else the right to the fruits of labour.
Some people say, “Russia will have to go to work,” but that does not
describe the case. The fact is that poor Russia is at work, but her
work counts for nothing. It is not free work. In the United States a
workman works eight hours a day; in Russia, he works twelve to
fourteen. In the United States, if a workman wishes to lay off a day
or a week, and is able to afford it, there is nothing to prevent him.
In Russia, under Sovietism, the workman goes to work whether he wants
to or not. The freedom of the citizen has disappeared in the
discipline of a prison-like monotony in which all are treated alike.
That is slavery.
Freedom is the right to work a decent length of time
and to get a decent living for doing so; to be able to arrange the
little personal details of one’s own life.
It is the aggregate of these and many other items of freedom which
makes up the great idealistic Freedom. The minor forms of Freedom
lubricate the everyday life of all of us.

Russia could not get along without intelligence and experience. As
soon as she began to run her factories by committees, they went to
rack and ruin; there was more debate than production. As soon as they
threw out the skilled man, thousands of tons of precious materials
were spoiled. The fanatics talked the people into starvation. The
Soviets are now offering the engineers, the administrators, the
foremen and superintendents, whom at first they drove out, large sums
of money if only they will come back. Bolshevism is now crying for the
brains and experience which it yesterday treated so ruthlessly. All
that “reform” did to Russia was to block production.

There is in this country a sinister element that desires to creep in
between the men who work with their hands and the men who think and
plan for the men who work with their hands. The same influence that
drove the brains, experience, and ability out of Russia is busily
engaged in raising prejudice here. We must not suffer the stranger,
the destroyer, the hater of happy humanity, to divide our people.
In
unity is American strength–and freedom. On the other hand, we have a
different kind of reformer who never calls himself one. He is
singularly like the radical reformer. The radical has had no
experience and does not want it.
The other class of reformer has had
plenty of experience but it does him no good. I refer to the
reactionary–who will be surprised to find himself put in exactly the
same class as the Bolshevist. He wants to go back to some previous
condition, not because it was the best condition, but because he
thinks he knows about that condition.

The one crowd wants to smash up the whole world in order to make a
better one. The other holds the world as so good that it might well be
let stand as it is–and decay. The second notion arises as does the
first–out of not using the eyes to see with. It is perfectly possible
to smash this world, but it is not possible to build a new one. It is
possible to prevent the world from going forward, but it is not
possible then to prevent it from going back–from decaying. It is
foolish to expect that, if everything be overturned, everyone will
thereby get three meals a day. Or, should everything be petrified,
that thereby six per cent, interest may be paid. The trouble is that
reformers and reactionaries alike get away from the realities–from
the primary functions.
