We aren’t managing our business, or our politicians//

As we mentioned on our “About the Bloggers” page, we frequently sit around and discuss politics, and today was no different, as El Commodore and I found ourselves, along with my Mom and husband, hanging out on the back patio in this gorgeous end-of-summer weather, as the carpet was drying from cleaning. (When he gets back from the movies, I’ll find out exactly where he got it:) El commodore brought up in discussion the info below and let me say, why was I not surprised? Because we want what we post on here to be factual and we pride ourselves on not just blowing around in the wind, with the rest of the “sheeple” as El Commodore calls them, I went searching to validate the info below that is circulating around.

However, on a general note, when you get snake-y people in office, you get snake-y laws benefitting only themselves (this is not news), while as per usual, spending our money. As we’ve mentioned before on this blog, politicians work for us, they are paid with our money (taxes) and they need to remember that – but I’ll rephrase today, “we need to remind them, all the time it seems.” I follow Francis Marion Nation on facebook (and you should too). Those guys are brilliant! I agree with pretty much everything they say and as they are posting up the stupid socialist things that our government is doing, they ususally close their posts by saying that we have allowed it, or we weren’t paying attention, or we need to pay attention and do something about it – and they are correct! While yes, we the american people are the “boss” of every politician that works for us, I hate to say it but we are kind of like the boss that never goes into the office, or store, to see what the employees are up to,

we’re like the bosses who don’t have a clue what’s going on with their business. My husband and I talk about this a lot as we discuss business and other people’s companies. We’ve seen what happens to companies where the boss is off vacationing and not paying attention to his business. Um, they usually go bankrupt, or get ripped off by their employees, their product declines, they loose their focus and their business folds, or comes close to it – sounds a lot like our country folks! Same goes for America. It’s our business and we need to pay attention to it; we have to manage it, we have to learn about how it runs, what would make it better and hire the best people. Americans need to wake up and stay informed and involved. If we were, there would be less snake-y politicians getting elected and less self-serving law-making going on.

So, here’s what El Commodore found today. This has been circulating around the internet. Pretty shocking at first glance. I did some fact checking and what I found was that some of it’s true (House and Senate reps. do receive a pension), and some of it’s not. Sadly, the part about the soldiers, is true (see the link below).

Salary of retired US Presidents ………….$180,000 per year FOR LIFE

Salary of House/Senate …………………..$174,000 per year FOR LIFE — This is stupid

Salary of Speaker of the House ………….$223,500 per year FOR LIFE — This is really stupid

Salary of Majority/Minority Leaders ……. $193,400 per year FOR LIFE — Ditto last line

Average annual Salary of a teacher …………… $40,065

Average annual Salary of Soldier DEPLOYED IN AFGHANISTAN ……. $38,000 (we should be embarrassed by this, I am)

I think we found where the cuts should be made! – El Commodore

And I’ll add to El Commodore’s statement, that I think we also know who should be getting more money. I think that the service men and women all over the world fighting for our freedom and risking their lives should make at least as much as the President. If anyone deserves it, they do. I think that is one of the FEW worthwhile tax expenditures. They are the people who should not have to worry about money or about feeding their family. They sacrifice more than most of us ever have to, they leave their families, their friends, and their safety and go out to defend ours. I have profound respect and love for our service men and women and their families. If any of you are reading this, I just want to say Thank You for your service and sacrifice!

We as a nation, via our crazy politicians, need to stop spending money on worthless and enabling social programs and put our tax dollars into something more worthwhile, like our military families.

What are you thoughts on the military and politician’s salaries?

Thank you for reading. ~Journalista
