Parental Consent Required For Tattoos in Maryland, But Not For Abortion// how crazy is this???

February 28, 2009 · 2 Comments

Nice of MD to give parents a little scrap of parental rights pie…

The Maryland House of Delegates has unanimously approved a proposal to require “parental consent” for tattoos and body piercings done on minors. However, the state still only requires that one parent be notified that a minor is going to have an abortion, with no need for the parent’s consent.

Do they really think that getting a tattoo is on the same playing field as a child getting an abortion? The craziness of American legislators never ceases to amaze me…

Obama Calls for the Destruction of Freedom and Human Life// would we expect anything different from him?

February 28, 2009 · 2 Comments

womanheartThe day before Obama took office, our former President Bush, who had integrity and I believe the best intentions for our country, put into place as one of the last acts of his administration, a policy that protects the conscience rights of American health care workers. In other words, Bush protected people that do not want to participate in anti-life practices and they don’t have to fear legal retribution.

Cue Obama– as he poises himself to rescind the policy that is barely over a month old. Nothing this guy does surprises me. If it’s insane, anti-life, anti-family and horrible for the country, you can probably assume Obama and his cronies are involved.

Am I the only one who thinks that these crazy liberal democrats are making a huge fuss out of the economy and this stimulus bill as a smoke screen to distract America, while they try to pass stuff that will have even more of a negative impact on the country then loosing  a few bucks. I don’t mean to sound blas’e about it, but seriously, financially responsible Americans should not be suffering and paying for the poor choices of other irresponsible Americans, corporations and mortgage lenders, etc. But while everyone is worrying about the big financial news stories, Obama’s crew is sneaking incredibly damaging stuff into policy, without anyone even knowing it. The nickname Slick Willy seems to fit.

The proposal to rescind the Bush rule was quietly put forward by the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department today.

An anonymous official from the HHS announced the measure this morning, saying, “We’ve been concerned that the way the Bush rule is written it could make it harder for women to get the care they need.” [

I' m sure Bush and his camp intentionally wrote the policy that way, and it will in no way make it hard to girls seeking abortions to get them. They're not fooling anyone.

"It's as if the president and Congress are trying to outdo each other for the dishonor of who can forward the most extreme anti-life agenda," said Father Euteneuer. [ick...]

“Like everyone who believes in human dignity, I am tired of these cowards in Congress trying to sneak these destructive, anti-life measures into bills that are supposed to be helping our country emerge from this recession,” said Fr. Euteneuer. “And I’m tired of President Obama’s ‘Choice for me, but not for thee’ hypocrisy. His audacity is not of hope, but of the destruction of freedom and human life.”

Redefining Marriage Will Come With Costs// and it will never be worth it…

February 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

isetta20marriage

I came across this really interesting article about what marriage is and what redefining it would really mean for American society, couples and families. The author poses this question:

What is marriage, and what is its role in society?

The government does not bestow recognition and benefits on couples simply because they have a committed sexual relationship, but because of the good that their commitment can bring to society. With marriage between one man and one woman, this “good” is its fundamental link with family.

What makes marriage unique among all human relationships and raises it to the level of a sacred bond is this: The union of one man and one woman is the only natural way that children are conceived. Moreover, the people best suited and motivated to take on the great task of raising a child from helpless newborn to independent adult are the mother and father whose love first brought that child into the world.

Marriage, then, is not just a private pledge of faithfulness, but a public vow to place the needs of others (spouse, children) above one’s desires. The “procreative potential” of man and woman does not keep their love focused inward, but enables it to reach outward, through the family, to literally build up society.

This notion of selflessness that is fundamentally necessary when rearing a happy and healthy child, is entirely contrary to information contained in this post from yesterday, wherein gay parents seem to  live in some alternate reality where “same-sex couples [think they] have a right to “get” children. (obviously it would be “get” since homosexuals in a homosexual relationship can’t “have” their own children). It’s as though children are a commodity to have. “I want to have a car. I want to have a house. I want to have a child.” There is a complete disregard for the rights, needs and wants of a child, which first and foremost is that child’s right to both a married father and a mother. The best parents are the ones who understand this need for selflessness, and putting their children, spouses and families first.

States have an enormous stake in the success of families. When families are stable and successful, all of society benefits. When they fail, however, the consequences are devastating and far-reaching. States should make every effort to uphold the integrity of the family!

I LOVE THIS NEXT PART!!!… {Click here to continue reading…}

Consequences of Civil Unions and the Governmental Elevation of Same-sex Relationships// do you know what courts and legislators in the land of the free and the home of the brave have been up to?

Consequences of Civil Unions and the Governmental Elevation of Same-sex Relationships

This post is just to refresh everyone’s memories and shed some light on the subject for those who might still be confused about the horrific damaging effects of SSM… (the info was directed at the voters of Hawaii– letting them know of the chaos that has been plaguing the country with regards to SSM).

Negative Impacts on Families and Children

Intentionally denying children both a mother and a father elevates the wants of adults over the needs of children. The result of same-sex “marriage” to satisfy the desires of adults means that children no longer have a right to their parents. Instead, same-sex couples have a right to get children. It’s as though children are a commodity to have. “I want to have a car. I want to have a house. I want to have a child.”

Committee Deadlocks on Hawaii Same-sex Unions Bill//

February 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Hawaii State Capital

Hawaii State Capital

In a follow-up to this post about Hawaii’s battle over same-sex unions, the Assoicated Press reported on committee deadlock over the issue.

The Civil Union bill (HB 444) has passed through the House of Representatives and will now go before the Senate Judiciary Committee for debate and vote. The bill, for all intents and purposes will place Hawaii one step closer to legalizing same sex marriage in Hawaii.

More than 1,400 people signed up to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which took more than 15 hours of testimony before voting at 3 a.m. It was the largest turnout for a Capitol hearing in years.

At least 18 of the 25 senators have said they favor civil unions. The measure already has passed the Hawaii House, but with one vote less than would be needed to override a veto.

Nearly 70 percent of Hawaii voters approved a constitutional amendment in 1998 granting the state Legislature the power to reserve marriage for couples of one man and one woman. But civil-union proponents told lawmakers that that vote should not trump the civil rights of gays and lesbians.

And the same old arguments surface again in Hawaii– voters shouldn’t be allowed to exercise their constitutional right because gays don’t believe it’s fair.

Impassioned crowds swamped the Hawaii Capitol on Tuesday, with civil-union opponents wearing red shirts outnumbering gay-rights advocates wearing gold stickers with the word “Equality” written in green. The auditorium was packed and many people ended up watching the testimony from televisions set up in the halls.

Religious groups opposed to civil unions argued that they’re the same thing as marriage.

“It is same-sex marriage under a different name,” said the Rev. Marc Alexander, vicar general of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu. “The reason why we benefit and endorse and acknowledge marriage in a special way in our religious structures is because of how it serves the common good in our community.”

Do You Want Your Kindergartner Learning About and Engaging in Sexual Activity// the u.k. government doesn’t have a problem with it

February 25, 2009 · 3 Comments

Parents Shouldn’t Tell Kids What’s Right or Wrong about Having Sex says a U.K. Gov’t Pamphlet

They also announce mandatory sex education for kindergartners. The U.K. Government wants parents to bow to their wishes and let children, the younger the better, learn about and participate in sexual activities and accumulate contraceptives. The government has completely disregarded all parental rights, religious beliefs and basic morality with this new plan of theirs. If we’re not careful, this could happen here to us in the USA. It’s already on it’s way as evidenced by recent US sex ed news. Look out parents!

Marriage Ruling Gave Gay People Legal Protection// gotta read the fine print…

February 24, 2009 · 3 Comments

On page 100 of the 124-page ruling, in dense legal prose, Chief Justice Ronald George ruled that a special constitutional protection applies to people based on their sexual orientation.

Thanks a lot Chief Justice. It looks like someone finally read the May 2008 ruling on the legality of Prop 22, in its entirety, and found a little morsel for gays to use come next week when arguments on the legality of Prop 8’s Constitutional Amendment begin in California’s Supreme Court.

In essence, the court said discrimination against gays and lesbians was equivalent to racial, age or gender discrimination, giving same-sex-rights advocates a powerful legal weapon in the future.

The special protection the court gave in May – which Proposition 8 does not affect – means that any state law or policy that is alleged to discriminate against gays and lesbians now will be analyzed under the most stringent legal standard a court can apply. Few laws survive such a test, known as “strict scrutiny.” [Strict scrutiny is the most stringent standard of judicial review used by United States courts reviewing federal law.]

The court’s findings in May now strengthen the protections to gays and lesbians where employment and health care are concerned, as well as in other areas,

It would be harder for judges to use sexual orientation as a reason to deny gays and lesbians certain rights, such as in child-custody cases and employment cases. And if in the future a new Legislature wanted to roll back some of the laws extending protections to gays and lesbians, it would be impossible, Greenberg said.

Shaun Martin, a law professor at the University of San Diego School of Law, said it “will make it easier for gays and lesbians to strike at non-marriage laws that may subtly or not so subtly discriminate against them.”

“You are going to have over the next 10 years lawsuits against government for doing things that have an adverse impact on gays and lesbians. And they will cite this case a lot,” Martin said.

Read more about the potential fall-out from the May ruling, here.

Hawaii Debates Same-Sex Unions//

February 23, 2009 · Leave a Comment

As the same-sex marriage debate heats up across the country, Hawaii has jumped in on it too. Here’s what’s going on there,

A measure legalizing such unions passed in the State House this month, and it now goes before the Senate, where a divided committee is scheduled to vote on Tuesday.

Both chambers of the Legislature are controlled by Democrats. Gov. Linda Lingle, a Republican, has declined to comment on the bill, and it is unclear whether she would veto it.

I don’t believe that the Governor of Hawaii isn’t sure about whether she would veto the measure, I think that just like many other politicians, she doesn’t want to say what her position really is. Why can’t politicians just stand up for their beliefs? Don’t they realize that their position on the issues is one of the reasons that they elected in the first place? I’m sure there are many citizens of Hawaii wondering why she’s stalling on stating her opinion on the gay marriage issue.

Gay rights organizations are citing their usual equality and civil rights rhetoric,

but opponents fear the erosion of an island culture that values conventional family ties.

Religious groups have been buying newspaper advertisements, setting up Web sites and holding rallies urging lawmakers to vote against the measure.

One anti-gay Web site warns of a bad influence on Hawaii “keiki,” the Hawaiian word for children.

We’ll have to keep an eye on Hawaii’s same-sex marriage fiasco and see how it all plays out.

Good Parenting Is Absent From Television// have you noticed?

February 22, 2009 · 3 Comments

A recent column in The New York Times asked the question, “Why Are There No Good Parents on TV?”

Gone are the days of Ward and June Cleaver, and Cliff and Claire Huxtable. . . and it’s too bad really. My husband and I talk about how we don’t let our children watch TV. The Discovery Channel, Discovery kids, The History Channel and the like, are more in line with our values when it comes to TV viewing in our home. We do not want our children exposed to the filth and trash and liberal, sexual craziness that floods practically every channel on television. So what do we choose to do as parents…TURN IT OFF!

TV is not a necessity, it is not a worthwhile way to spend your time and it rarely educates your children. The cool thing is, that our kids don’t really ask to watch TV. They know that requests for tv watching and video games don’t ever get them very far. There are occasional Saturday morning Disney channel cartoons, but for the most part, we are together, reading, playing outside, taking trips to the park, ridding our bikes, playing at the beach, building things, cooking, singing around the piano, going to sporting events, putt putt golfing and bowling. Our 3 year-old is a pretty good bowler!!!! I wish more parents would pay attention to what their children get from TV; not the kinds of things they need to be exposed to.

“The Cosby Show” and “7th Heaven” have been replaced by “Wife Swap” and “Desperate Housewives.” Today’s TV parents are self-involved, clueless, overly permissive or absent, and experts say the move away from good parenting is a problem.

“We don’t have good role models on television anymore, and we don’t have good examples of what a family should look like or how families should interact,” said Melissa Henson, director of communications at the Parents Television Council.

Bob Waliszewski, director of Focus on the Family’s Plugged In Web site, said he would like to see the networks put money into shows with healthy family dynamics. “Parents need to have a role-model show out there,” he said, “that they can point to and say, ‘Hey, I like that. It’s funny. It’s clever, but hey the husband and wife love each other; their parenting skills are great.’ ”

San Diego Jury Awards Damages to Firefighters Who Were Sexually Harassed at Gay Pride Parade//

Toronto Gay Pride Parade--looks pretty mild compared to the mess that was San Diego's parade

Toronto Gay Pride Parade--looks pretty mild compared to the mess that was San Diego's parade

Here’s the follow-up report to the post we did on the case of four San Diego firefighters ordered by the lesbian fire chief to participate in a “gay” pride parade in uniform while driving a city fire truck. The figherfighters were sexually harassed and after a trial, were finally awarded damages by an obviously disgusted and fair jury. Stealing info from my friend Euripides again (Thanks!!!), he reported on his blog:

Good news for common sense and California courts. In San Diego, a jury determined that four firefighters were sexually harassed at a gay pride parade and awarded them $34,300 in damages.

The firefighters’ attorney, Charles LiMandri, said during his closing argument that his clients were targets of vulgar gestures and catcalls while being forced to watch barely clothed men and women simulate sex acts and touch themselves and one another.

Justice prevailed. These firefighters deserved every penny they got, and definitely more. It is absolutely unacceptable that this lewd and creepy behavior took place on public streets, utilizing public resources like police and firefighters, and no doubt a massive street-cleaning crew after they were done grossing everyone out and protesting their perceived lack of civil rights.  And furthmore,  just because they’re gay, and they claim to be “oppressed” or whatever, we’re all just supposed to support this offensive and disgusting type of public display? No thanks… not gonna happen! Citizens of San Diego should be outraged that their tax dollars have, either directly or indirectly, gone to support, assist and enable such trashy displays.
